The land on which the ski resort is developed consists of three plots: one at the Base, covering 6 hectares (part of grazing lot 15), donated by the Uboldi family; another of 55 hectares at the 1500-meter elevation (part of grazing lot 14), donated by the Gherosa family, both donations made in favor of the Cerro Bayo Association. The third plot, 60 hectares at the 1500-meter elevation adjacent to the previous one, was acquired by Mr. Raemdonk from Mr. Gherosa. In this way, a property of approximately 121 hectares was formed, to which 3 additional hectares were later added at the summit (1805-meter elevation), donated by Mr. Chateaubriand (part of grazing lot 13), with the purpose of installing a lift to the very top of the mountain and a café.

In this way, the ski resort became consolidated and grew, with the distinctive feature of being a family mountain, artisan-built, with one of the best views in the world, according to National Geographic, and developed on private land with private investment.
The strong growth of our town, which went from 2,200 inhabitants in 1978 to 15,000 today, calls for a comprehensive renewal of the mountain in order to meet the growing demand for skiing in general and to consolidate Cerro Bayo among the ski resorts of the region and the country, thus increasing winter season occupancy rates.
To this end, we have developed the first stage of a modernization and expansion project for services, using the means and land currently available to us, while recognizing that the inclusion of the 270 hectares of land known as the “provincial slopes” is still pending definition, which will in due course require the corresponding study.
Our project strengthens the following lines of intervention:
• Snow park
• Expansion and renewal of ski lifts
• Expansion and opening of new ski runs
• Renewal of buildings and services
• Artificial snowmaking
• Ski-in / Ski-out
We are aware that any work carried out in a place like this has an impact on the environment. For this reason, we will present the corresponding environmental analyses and proposals, which will lead to an Environmental Impact Study once the necessary terms of reference have been defined.
